Moroccan Fish
Moroccan Fish
Did you know there has been a strong Jewish presence in Morocco since the 1400s?
After fleeing the Spanish Inquisition, Ashley's family settled in Morocco and stayed there until her grandparents were born. Jewish people that lived in Spain prior to the Inquisition and their ultimate expulsion in 1492 are called Sephardic Jews. While the core traditions and customs of Judaism are the same across all tribes, there are some differences in traditions and practices. For example, Sephardic Jews sing the Torah and prayers in a different style from Ashkenazi Jews, who's traditions developed in Eastern Europe. And unlike the Ashkenazi, Sephardis allow rice during Passover!
But we digress.…Back to fish. On Shabbat or for special occasions, Ashley's grandma makes the most delicious, and sometimes spicy, fish. Made with peppers, cilantro, some lemon and other secret ingredients, this meal has been a staple for many Moroccan families. A late addition to the collection, Serah added this colorway when Ashley shared a few stealth photos from her family's Rosh Hashana dinner.
Ashley's grandmother has seen the resulting colorway, and she was so amazed at how much it looks like her food that she immediately started to point out the different ingredients in the skein. We hope you enjoy this one as much as we do!

Photos of yarn are carefully corrected for color accuracy, but please keep in mind that different screens can display colors differently. Due to the nature of small batch, hand-dyed yarns, individual skeins may also vary slightly.
For best care, please hand wash all yarns in cool water with a mild detergent or wool wash and air dry. Yarns are carefully dyed to fully set color and rinsed before shipping, but some color bleeding is still normal with the first wash.
Please note that orders shipped outside of the United States may incur additional duties or taxes upon delivery. These charges are the responsibility of the customer.
